"My husband Ajaib Singh arrived in Canada before me in 1923 and attended the University of B.C. I followed him here in 1932 and I was 28 years old at that time. We settled in Victoria. At that time there were not a large number of Indo-Canadian families in Victoria. Back then the ladies just stayed at home and raised the family and that's why I didn't learn English fluently. At first we didn't know a lot of people but the gurdwara was where everyone met, and we could walk there from our house. We lived in Victoria for 45 years and we were both active in the Khalsa Diwan Society. My husband was a committee member and I did volunteer work in the gurdwara along with the other women.”
After her husband passed away, Paritam Kaur Sangha moved from the family home in Victoria to Vancouver, where she lived with one of her two daughters. Paritam Kaur Sangha passed away at the age of 99 in Feb 2004.
